Jalen James reopens recruitment

Class of 2013 point guard Jalen James (Chicago/La Lumiere School) has decided to reopen his recruitment and is no longer committed to Illinois. The news was confirmed to ESPN by his AAU coach.

"Jalen will reopen recruitment for the July period," Illinois Wolves head coach Mike Mullins said. "This decision was made by Jalen and his family after discussions with new head coach John Groce. Jalen wishes the Illinois team and program well and is excited for the July period and new opportunities."

Groce was hired in March following Bruce Weber's firing. James' decision leaves the Illini with one commitment for 2013, ESPN 100 shooting guard Malcolm Hill (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East).
