ESPN.com has confirmed that shooting guard Matt Thomas (Onalaska, Wisc./Onalaska H.S.) gave Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg a verbal commitment on Thursday.
The ESPN 100 prospect chose the Cyclones over Boston College, Marquette, Virginia, Minnesota and Wisconsin, among others.
"Fred Hoiberg continues to bring in the type of talent that when fully developed will help the Cyclones compete for a Big 12 championship," ESPN's National Recruiting Director Paul Biancardi said.
"By landing Thomas they get an outstanding shooter with deep range. He'll open the post game and driving lines for his teammates as he cannot be ignored on the perimeter. He exudes supreme confidence in his jumper from anywhere on the floor and possesses the ability when hot to break open a game by making game changing three's for the Mayor (Hoiberg)."
Thomas is the first recruit for Hoiberg from the 2013 class.
