Boston College head coach Steve Donahue nabbed his first commitment in the 2012 class on Wednesday with an oral pledge from point guard Joe Rahon (Del Mar, Calif.), multiple sources have confirmed.
The senior held offers from San Diego State, Oregon, USC and Washington State among others.
ESPN.com's West Coast Recruiting Coordinator Joel Francisco has the goods on Rahon's game.
"After a devastating knee injury which ended his junior campaign before the season started, Joe put together a terrific spring and summer to garner interest from high major's," Francisco said. "He's a terrific jump shooter who is learning the nuances of the point guard position.
His competitive nature nature evolving skill set are impressive, but he'll need to continue to get stronger with the ball to take on the overall speed of the ACC."
Rahon is the fifth recruit from the Golden State to commit to the Eagles since Donahue took over prior to last season. Ryan Anderson (Long Beach), Kyle Caudill (Brea), Jordan Daniels (Etiwanda) and Lonnie Jackson (Valencia) all signed with B.C. in 2011.
