ESPNU 100 Hawkins picks USF

Huntington (W.Va.) Prep head coach Rob Fulford confirmed to ESPN.com that Top 100 shooting guard Javontae Hawkins (Flint, Mich.) verbally committed to South Florida on Monday.

"Hawkins is a great get for head coach Stan Heath," said ESPN.com's Reggie Rankin. "He's a true shooting guard with size and athletic ability and he can score in bunches with range to the arc. Reminds me of a young RIP Hamilton at times.

"Hawkins' ability to score should help the Bulls immediately."

Hawkins had schools such as LSU, Arizona State, West Virginia, DePaul, Cincinnati, Iowa and Virginia Tech after his services. He joins two junior college transfers in head coach Stan Heath's 2012 class, center Waverly Austin (Fredericksburg, Va./Palm Beach State College) and shooting guard Musa Abdul-Aleem (Atlanta/Georgia Perimeter College).
