#AskCoachB: Hoosiers' class shaping up

Want to ask ESPN RecruitingNation national recruiting director Paul Biancardi a question about basketball recruiting? Tweet it to @PaulBiancardi using the hashtag #AskCoachB.

The Hoosiers only have a couple of scholarships available and have no commitments on the board and it's still extremely early in the recruiting process. One thing they must plan for is if Noah Vonleh plays well enough to be a one and done player. Vonleh possesses that type of upside and he impressed scouts at the Nike Hoop Summit.

Indiana is looking to bring in a guard, a big man and a SF type to replace Vonleh. Unfortunately IU has had two major decommitments from the class of 2014 in ESPN 100 No. Trey Lyles and No. 25 James Blackmon. Lyles has gone in a completely different direction while Blackmon has said he will revisit things with Indiana before he makes his final decision. He is now looking at Kentucky, Michigan, and Michigan State.

With that said, Indiana is awaiting a decision Friday from Robert Johnson who will ultimately decide between UNC, IU, Virginia and Florida State. Johnson is one of the best guards on the board and would be an excellent addition. As of our last rankings in April he was not currently in the ESPN 100 but likely will be when the rankings are updated.

In the frontcourt, IU is a finalist for ESPN 100 No. 19 Goodluck Okonoboh and ESPN No. 74 Devin Robinson, but are out of the picture for big man Cliff Alexander. Keep an eye on the Hoosiers with Austrian prospect Dante Exum if he comes to the United States for college as opposed to entering the NBA draft. Indiana is in the mix with North Carolina, Georgetown, LSU, and SMU for him. If the Hoosiers don't get Johnson, look for them to take a closer look at SG Ahmed Hill or point guards Riley LaChance and Lourawls Nain.
