#AskCoachB: 2016 G Woods is explosive

Class of 2016 prospect Seventh Woods (Columbia, S.C./Hammond School) first introduced himself to the basketball world on YouTube with some electric dunks in middle school. I had the opportunity to scout him over the summer and spent time with him at the Elite 24 in August and came away impressed with him as prospect and a person.

At this stage of his career, Woods, who is ranked No. 21 in the 2016 ESPN 25, is a combination guard as he is best at scoring off the bounce. He is also is a willing passer.

First and foremost his athletic ability blows you away at such a young age. He is explosive with a crazy vertical to make any dunk look easy and has the body control to finish in the lane when he can't get all the way to the rim. He loves to play in attack-mode. He is learning how to process the game and keep his teammates involved while staying aggressive as he is still learning how to play point guard.

Woods must learn to talk to his teammates and coaches more, and from a scoring standpoint his jump shot from distance needs to be a priority.

We have a detailed evaluation and a scout's grade here.
