Former No. 2 center lands at UNLV

A former McDonald's All-American and ESPNU's second ranked center from 2011 will suit up for UNLV in late 2012, the school announced on Monday.

Khem Birch (Montreal, Que./Notre Dame Prep) decided a few weeks ago to transfer from Pittsburgh and made it official on Monday when he signed a financial aid offer.

"We are excited to have Khem join our program," Rebels head coach Dave Rice said. "He is a versatile forward who will be a terrific player in our up-tempo system. He is a dominant defender and a great teammate."

Birch apppeared in 10 games for Pitt during the fall semester, making six starts. He averaged 4.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 15.0 minutes per game.

He will join an incoming class for Rice and his staff which features ESPNU 100 shooting guard Katin Reinhardt (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./Mater Dei) along with power forward Demetris Morant (Las Vegas/Bishop Gorman) and point guard DaQuan Cook (Baltimore/St. Frances Academy).
