Post-grad point guard Teven Jones (Kannapolis, N.C./Fishburne Military) is expected to enroll early at Virginia and join the basketball team for the rest of 2012, Fishburne head coach Ed Huckaby told the Washington Post.
Huckaby said that Jones should be on the Charlottesville campus this weekend. The 6-foot-1 North Carolina native is expected to redshirt for the remainder of this season but can practice with the team.
"Teven's a plus for U-Va. because he's a kid that can run the scout team that's not a player that's currently playing and sometimes gets moody and says, 'Well, why am I on the scout team rather than with the main team?' " Huckaby told the post. "In Teven's case, running the scout team in practice, those are his games every day, so he won't be pouting or anything because obviously he can't run with the main group so he doesn't have an ulterior motive behind what he's doing. He’s fine with it."
Jones is a member of a Cavalier class currently ranked No. 19 on ESPN.com and features small forwards Justin Anderson (Spotsylvania, Va./Montrose Christian School) and Evan Nolte (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton H.S.) along with center Mike Tobey (Monroe, N.Y./Blair Academy).
