6-foot-9 power forward Kentan Facey (Trelawny, Jamaica/Long Island Lutheran) made his college decision late Wednesday night with a verbal pledge to Connecticut. The news was first reported by the New York Post.
Facey, who came to New York from Jamaica in 2011, chose the Huskies following his unofficial visit to the Storrs, Conn. campus earlier Wednesday. "It just felt right at the moment," he told the Post. "Everything was just perfect - the situation, the campus is beautiful, the coaching staff is superb, all of that came together."
He held offers from Dayton, Memphis, St. John's, Rhode Island, UCLA, USC, Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Providence and Xavier.
Facey is the first recruit for head coach Jim Calhoun and his staff rom the 2013 class.
