No. 17 B.J. Foster talks LSU, Texas

Tom Hauck for Student Sports

SPRING, Texas – Safety B.J. Foster is one of the top-ranked prospects in the state of Texas.

The 6-foot-1, 189-pound prospect and 2018 Under Armour All-America Game selection has begun the unofficial visit process with a Top 5 remaining the same.

“It’s LSU, TCU, Ohio State, Michigan and Texas,” the No. 17 player in the ESPN Junior 300 said.

Foster is recovering from a knee injury and is limited in camp participation but recently visited LSU.

“I came from LSU yesterday,” he said. “It’s pretty nice up there, and I like how they do things. I watched their practice – it was pretty intense.”

The Tigers’ being high on Foster’s list shouldn’t come as a surprise with LSU’s run of success recruiting the Houston area, especially in the 2017 class.

“Coach Orgeron just said that people say they only play people from Louisiana, and that’s not true,” Foster said. “I noticed guys like Grant Delpit and K’Lavon [Chaisson] that signed with LSU. They keep hitting me up trying to get me to join them down there.”

Inside the state lines, it’s Texas that appears to have the best shot at keeping the Houston-area playmaker home, which Foster also recently visited.

“That was pretty fun,” he said. “I got to meet a lot of new people around Texas and got to be around the Houston people there. I’m going back up there next weekend to watch a practice.”

Michigan is also in the mix but pulling Foster away from closer programs seems like an uphill battle.

“Michigan is a top school for me,” Foster said. “I like them a lot, and I’m going to visit them soon. With Ohio State, they are known for producing a lot of DBs that go to the league, so that is pretty nice. TCU is a good program. They produce a lot of good players there too. I have a couple of friends up there that tell me about the school. Jalen Reagor talks to me about TCU.”

Foster doesn’t have any more unofficial visit dates locked in at this time.
