Lambert trims list to three

Quanzell Lambert (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) has whittled the number of schools he's considering to three, according to Timber Creek coach Rob Hinson.

“Nebraska, Iowa and Rutgers,” Hinson said.

Hinson said Lambert, a four-star outside linebacker, is scheduled to have a home visit tonight from Iowa and one Friday from Rutgers. He has taken an official visit to all three schools. He also took an official visit to Northwestern.

Dobbs still deciding

Three-star running back Montrell Dobbs committed to Connecticut in June and planned to enroll in January, after spending a semester at Milford Academy in New Berlin, N.Y.

Then, when Dobbs learned that he wouldn't be attending UConn because of an academic issue, he reportedly gave a verbal commitment to Marshall. On Wednesday night, Dobbs said he still isn't sure what uniform he'll be wearing next fall.

“It's still undecided,” Dobbs said. “They told me in high school I didn't take the classes I needed to play Division I football, which made me a Prop 48. I'm still looking at UConn and Marshall -- they're definitely my two schools -- but if I do go to UConn I may have to spend another year at a junior college.”

Dobbs, who ran for 3,445 yards and scored 45 touchdowns during his senior year at Ansonia (Conn.) High School, was Milford Academy's offensive MVP last season.

“Things happen for a reason,” Dobbs said. “I'm trying to stay positive and make the most of my opportunity when it comes.”

Hamilton headed to Cal

ESPNU 150 defensive end Darius Hamilton (Ramsey, N.J./Don Bosco) will take an official visit this weekend to California, one week after a visit to Florida.

Hamilton listed a top three of California, Florida and Rutgers last week, but recently added Ohio State to the mix after he was contacted by Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer.
