Junior OL Mahon up to three offers

Christmas came early for offensive tackle Brendan Mahon (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) this year.

Mahon, a 6-foot-5, 305-pound junior, reeled in offers from Boston College and Connecticut in the middle of December, raising his number of offers to three. He also received an offer from Rutgers after attending a camp there last June.

“I really like my position right now,” Mahon said. “Even if you have one offer you're a step closer to your dream of playing college football.”

North Carolina State, Purdue and West Virginia are the other schools showing the most interest at this point, Mahon said.

“North Carolina State has been sending me lots of mail since September,” he said. “They invited me to all of their games. It's the same thing with Purdue and West Virginia.”

In addition to Rutgers, Mahon attended camps at Boston College, Maryland and Penn State last summer.

He said Penn State was once his “dream school” and he's monitoring the situation there.

“If I feel comfortable with the coaches and like what I see it's a school I could still have interest in,” he said.

Mahon said he would like to decide on a college this summer, before the start of his senior season. He described himself as a versatile offensive lineman who can play center, guard or tackle.

“If they want me to play center I'll play center, if they want me to play guard I'll play guard,” he said. “Wherever I'm needed and whatever I can do to help the team.”
