Boston College offers Timber Creek trio

Boston College assistant coach Mike Siravo made the most of his phone call to Timber Creek Regional (Erial, N.J.) coach Rob Hinson on Tuesday.

Before Hinson hung up the phone, Siravo had extended scholarship offers to three Timber Creek juniors: ESPNU 150 Watch List defensive tackle Greg Webb, defensive end Dajuan Drennon and athlete Myles Nash.

All three were among the Timber Creek players who attended BC's spring game last season.

“I haven't been hearing too much from them,” Nash said. “I haven't even been receiving mail from them. This was a shocker.”

Nash said BC is recruiting him to play outside linebacker or defensive end. He has also played quarterback and wide receiver in high school. Nash's other offers are from Rutgers and James Madison.

“Rutgers is high on my list right now,” Nash said. “They were my first offer. That says a lot about what they think of my ability.”

Webb, who has committed to play in the 2012 Under Armour All-America Game, now has 15 offers. Drennon is up to 12 offers.

“This one came from nowhere,” Drennon said. “We haven't been receiving stuff from them during the season. I know BC is a good academic school. Football-wise I have to do some research.”

Ascolese sets announcement date

Outside linebacker Vincent Ascolese (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) said Tuesday night he will announce his college decision Jan. 27 at his high school.

Ascolese, who was recently named to the 2012 Parade All-America Team, said he will choose either Arkansas, Illinois or a third SEC team that has yet to make an offer. He refused to name the third school.

“I might have an offer from a new SEC school [Wednesday] afternoon,” Ascolese said. “That would be the third school. I'll let you know if it happens.”

Ascolese also has offers from Cincinnati and Michigan State.
