Caleb likes the Mountaineers

West Virginia pulled out all the stops for Joel Caleb.

The Mountaineers tabbed starting quarterback Geno Smith to host Caleb during his official visit this weekend.

“He's a real cool, very laid back guy,” Caleb said of Smith, “but I love the fact that they rotate eight receivers and have a couple of good young (quarterbacks) behind Geno.”

An explosive offense has often been cited as a draw for the four-star athlete prospect from Midlothian (Va.) Clover Hill. Specifically, he has said frequently that he was impressed with West Virginia's 70-point output in the Orange Bowl against Clemson.

The trip to West Virginia is the last Caleb will take before he announces his decision on Feb. 1, national signing day.

“Went really well,” Caleb said. “Liked the coaching staff.”

Caleb has visited Ohio State and Virginia Tech. The Hokies are thought to be the main competition.
