Michael Giacone commits to BC

The more Michael Giacone (Westfield, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) looked at Boston College, the more he liked what he saw.

Giacone, a three-star tight end, committed to Boston College late Monday night. He committed to Rutgers last summer, but gave Boston College a second look after Greg Schiano left Rutgers to become head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Giacone visited Boston College last weekend.

“I fit in very well with the rest of the team and their combination of academics and athletics,” Giacone said. “We're taking [pictures] today and signing tomorrow.”

Boston College was in need of a tight end since Sam Grant (Lakewood, Ohio/St. Edward) decommitted last week and committed to Oklahoma. Boston College also lost out on an in-state tight end when Jameson McShea (Cotuit, Mass./Boston College High) picked Harvard over the Eagles.
