A far away scholarship offer doesn't intimidate Derwin Gray.
Subsequently, count the Washington Huskies firmly in the race for the 6-foot-5, 280-pound offensive tackle from Washington (D.C.) Friendship.
“Yes, I can go that far from home,” said Gray who has over 20 scholarship offers.
Gray seemed impressed by the latest invite, calling it a “big offer”. The offer and connection out west came from linebacker coach Peter Sirmon, who was hired by the Huskies from Tennessee in January.
“I think Sirmon is a great coach,” Gray said. “He was recruiting me when he was at Tennessee.”
Clearly, Sirmon has made a strong impression.
“To me he is an awesome coach,” Gray said. “Me and coach Sirmon have a great relationship.”
Gray, an ESPNU 150 Watch List prospect, transferred to Friendship from Washington (D.C.) Dunbar before this semester.
