Robbins on Rutgers' visit and two more offers

Kevin Robbins Jr. has a lot to think about.

Soon after returning home from a visit to Rutgers, the defensive end from Forestville (Md.) Bishop McNamara picked up two more scholarship offers, from Ole Miss and Wake Forest, on Monday.

Starting with the Scarlet Knights, Robbins said he was impressed with the new coaching staff and the atmosphere they've created.

“Rutgers, it was a great experience going up there,” the 6-foot-4, 225-pound junior said. “They had a great family environment and I really could feel it when I was there. I like their closeness.”

Robbins was also impressed with the way Rutgers' coaches handled a Saturday morning practice he attended. Defensive line coach Jim Panagos certainly caught Robbins' eye.

“Their practice was great,” Robbins said. “It was a high-energy practice and they were really working on the little things, like footwork and stuff like that. It just looked like they were having a lot of fun when they were practicing.”

Admittedly, Robbins said he doesn't know too much about the two latest schools to offer him a scholarship. Yet he intends on visiting Ole Miss and Wake Forest.

Travel will be a big step in Robbins' recruitment. He is planning a trip to North Carolina to visit Wake Forest, North Carolina State and Duke. All three schools have offered him a scholarship.

Getting from place to place won't be hard since Robbins' mother works for America Airlines and the two get family discounts or free passes. Robbins is planning to visit Georgia Tech this weekend.
