Top-10 DE Ebenezer Ogundeko favors four

Less than two months ago, Ebenezer Ogundeko (Brooklyn, N.Y./Thomas Jefferson) was ready to pull the trigger and commit. He set up a press conference and was going to pick from a final three.

Now Ogundeko has a top four and only two of his original final three teams remains. Arizona State, Florida, Ole Miss and Syracuse are at the top of the leaderboard for Ogundeko, No. 108 in the ESPN 150 and New York’s top prospect.

The Sun Devils and Rebels are new to Ogundeko’s list of favorites, and now Arizona State will host Ogundeko for an official visit beginning Oct. 16 for its Oct. 18 game against Oregon.

“They’ve been recruiting me since day one, so I want to take a visit there and see how it goes,” he said.

Ogundeko raved about the attention the Sun Devils have shown him since his recruitment began blowing up in February.

Ole Miss did not make its move to the front until July, but Ogundeko, a top-10 defensive end nationally, has built a strong relationship with defensive line coach Chris Kiffin.

The Gators have been among Ogundeko’s favorites for several months, and he is still talking with the coaching staff about where he would fit in.

Syracuse has been there the longest for Ogundeko. The Orange were his first FBS offer, which made a major impression on the 6-foot-3, 229-pound defensive end.

“It really means a lot,” he said.

Ogundeko has only set the Arizona State visit, but he plans on visiting all four of his top schools. With his season underway -- he had two sacks in the opener -- he likely won’t visit the remaining three until after the season. He wants to take a fifth visit, too, but does not know which teams would be in the running for it.
