Three-star WR Diante Cherry favoring two

Three-star receiver Diante Cherry has his eyes on this weekend as his Lancaster (Pa.) J.P. McCaskey needs to win to make the playoffs. Standing in the way is nearby rival Lancaster Catholic.

Cherry still has his eye toward recruiting, though, and UConn has sparked interest once again. The Huskies staff was talking with Cherry earlier, but talks broke off until just recently. Depending on how the Huskies' class shapes up over the next few months, Cherry could land his first FBS offer.

"They like me at WR, but the defensive coordinator likes me at CB, so they said depending on the commits they may offer," Cherry said.

UConn is talking to Cherry about making a visit, but Cherry has nothing planned at this point. Those will likely come after the season.

For now, Cherry's top group consists of Delaware and Towson, and Delaware has positioned itself well with the No. 46 player in Pennsylvania.

"It has the tradition, the staff is amazing, they play good football and win," he said. "The game atmosphere is good, packed stands almost every home game. It's kind of like a little Penn State."

At Towson, Cherry sees a program on the rise, and the Tigers could make a statement this weekend as they travel to Delaware.

"The coaching staff seems good, the program really seems like it's turning around and headed in a good path," Cherry said.
