Recruiting can wait for Muhammad

Alquadin Muhammad is more focused on the quarterback than recruiting.

The junior defensive end isn't worried about what colleges are calling; he's more focused on being the best player he can be for Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, N.J.

Still, the pass-rushing specialist is certainly on colleges' radar. He already has three scholarship offers, from Rutgers, Boston College and Colorado. Florida, Oregon, Michigan and Syracuse and many other schools have also shown interest and could be close to offering.

Muhammad understands that his ticket to a free education and the chance to play college football relies on his pass-rushing skills.

“That's my specialty,” the 6-foot-3, 230-pounder said. “Pass rushing the quarterback.”

Athletic ability alone won't accomplish that goal, so Muhammad has tried to become a student of the game.

“It's all about leverage, being low and good technique and being quick off the ball and just being tough,” he said.
