Reavis decides to stay close to home

ASHBURN, Va. -- In-state safety C.J. Reavis (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) said Sunday there was no need to drag out his recruitment. He's known for awhile that Virginia Tech was the right school for him, so he committed shortly after the Hokies' spring game Saturday.

"They were my first offer, the first school I ever talked to as a recruit," Reavis said after impressing at the Nike Football Training Camp and earning an invitation to The Opening and. "I just felt comfortable there. It felt like home already."

The coveted DB picked the in-state school over 17 others -- including the likes of Georgia Tech, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin. He said he grew up as a Hokies fan, and one of Tech's coaches gave him a big bear hug after his commitment.

"I just got a good vibe there," he added. "I knew before I went there that I was going to commit."

He's the sixth commitment of Virginia Tech's 2014 class.
