Ohio State invades Gilman School

Urban Meyer has set his sites on Baltimore (Md.) Gilman.

The newly hired head coach and his staff have offered a scholarship to junior defensive tackle Henry Poggi and secured a visit from he and four-star athlete Cyrus Jones, who held a scholarship offer from Ohio State before Meyer was hired.

"I have talked to coach Meyer and coach Fickell and I am interested," said Poggi, who confirmed that he and Jones will visit Ohio State in December.

Jones, who is rated the 33rd best prospect in the nation, was close to shutting down his recruitment and announcing a decision in mid-January. Jones told ESPN in November that he had a leader in mind and was down to Alabama, Auburn and Virginia Tech.

Now, Ohio State is trying to pry its way into Jones' list of top schools. He is considering an official visit to Columbus which could postpone his decision.

Poggi is one of the top junior prospects in the mid-Atlantic area and possibly in the nation. The ESPN Watch List prospect has over 20 scholarship offers.

As for schools that are standing out, Poggi said "Stanford, Michigan, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn in no particular order."

Stanford, Virginia Tech, Purdue, Iowa, Alabama, Wake Forest, Rutgers and Miami are some of the schools to recently offer a scholarship.
