Evrett Edwards on Duke offer

Evrett Edwards didn't need to see Peyton Manning to be impressed by Duke.

The future NFL Hall of Fame quarterback, who was working out at the North Carolina school, had already left the area by the time Edwards visited there this weekend, but Edwards said the fact that Blue Devil head coach David Cutcliffe had produced stars like Manning and his younger brother Eli Manning could factor into his decision.

“That's very strong,” the cornerback from Woodbridge (Va.) High School said. “But even more important to me is building relationships and how they are a family. They are all very close with each other and value everyone they bring into the school.”

Edwards felt a part of the family when he was offered a scholarship by Cutcliffe.

“I love the fact that coach Cutcliffe sat me down and offered me, really meant a lot coming from the head coach and he's very prestigious,” Edwards said. “It really meant a lot.”

Edwards was also impressed by the school itself.

“Outstanding school,” he said. “I love the campus, the coaching staff and the direction they are going in.”

Edwards also has scholarship offers from Boston College, Wake Forest, Ohio, West Virginia and Illinois.
