Poggi is one of the top defensive tackle prospects in the nation and he's considering dozens of schools. Kiser also held several scholarship offers before committing to Virginia this week. Cockerille committed to Maryland last month.
Yet there's more – many more – top-flight prospects that will be coming out of Gilman in the near future.
Colleges know as well. They regularly make the trip to Gilman to recruit the many prospects there. During the spring evaluation period, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan, Maryland, Navy, Boston College, Southern California, Miami, Virginia, Penn State and Tennessee are all scheduled to visit the school, if they haven't done so already.
Here's some of the prospects worth keeping an eye on:
Wyatt Dickerson, LB
6-foot, 205 pounds
Dickerson played strong safety last season but will move to strongside linebacker this fall. He's seen interest from Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Navy. He is still waiting on his first scholarship offer.
“It would mean a lot,” Dickerson said. “Just to get to that point. Its like a dream to have that opportunity to play college football.”
Miles Norris, LB
5-11, 185 pounds
Norris has seen interest from Boston College, Pittsburgh, North Carolina State and some Ivy League schools. He recently was offered a scholarship by Navy.
“It's an honor,” Norris said. “Navy is such a prestigious place. Just the fact that they would have interest, on top of that the fact that they would offer, I couldn't be more honored. God has blessed me.”
Matt Tilley, DB
6-4, 190 pounds
Tilley has an offer from Navy and more could be on the way.
“He's getting a lot of interest right now,” Gilman assistant coach Henry Russell said.
