Keith Marshall's weekend visit to Notre Dame helped the Fighting Irish on two fronts.
“I had a great time at Notre Dame,” the nation's second-highest rated tailback told ESPN.com in a text message. “The game day atmosphere was electric, and I also like how academics is taken very seriously.”
Academics should play a key role in the recruitment of Marshall, who has a 4.3 grade-point average at Raleigh (N.C.) Millbrook.
Marshall has been vague about who might be in his final grouping of schools, only saying that he'll consider every school where he takes an official visit and North Carolina and South Carolina, two schools he has visited frequently and is very familiar with.
Marshall has taken official visits to Florida and Georgia. He has also taken unofficial visits to Tennessee frequently, which would make one think Knoxville is a possible destination for an official visit. Alabama and Southern Cal are also thought to be in the running.
Speculation continues to swirl around Georgia, Marshall's childhood favorite team. If head coach Mark Richt proves to be on solid ground after the season, the Bulldogs could prove the team to beat.
