Corey Clement not definite on Pitt

A Pittsburgh commitment since the middle of June, ESPN 300 running back Corey Clement (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) is not locked in to signing with the Panthers.

With 15 offers, Clement is planning to take at least a couple of official visits before signing day.

One program likely to receive an official visit is Nebraska. The courtship between the Huskers and the nation’s 194th-best player has picked up again recently, and Clement could visit Dec. 1 if the Huskers are not in the Big Ten championship game.

“I dozed off on them and then did some research and said, ‘This is a good school so let me get back at them.’ It’s all about doing your homework,” the four-star recruit said.

“At the beginning I was so naive. Now I've got to be mature about it and do my homework and look at schemes and not judge on names.”

A program he likes but falls into that category is Notre Dame. He is intrigued by the Fighting Irish’s offer, but he is not sure if he fits into Brian Kelly’s scheme offensively.

“I don’t know if I fit into their offense too well with them being a spread,” Clement said. “They’re a fabulous team and I’d love to go there, but I don’t know if it would work out too well.”

Wisconsin has its eyes on ESPN 150 running back David Williams, but if he lands elsewhere, the Badgers could turn the pressure up on Clement. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Clement is high on Wisconsin and would like to officially visit Madison as well.

As for any more official visits, Clement is not sure where or if he will take them.

“I don’t want to take a trip out and waste the coaching staff’s time if I don’t want to go there,” he said. “I don’t want to lead anybody on that I don’t want to go to.”
