Although Ohio State’s potential 2014 linebacker haul is very promising, the Buckeyes are still having trouble securing a top linebacker in 2013.
Urban Meyer is not giving up all hope on one particular ESPN 150 linebacker.
Since Sept. 1, the Buckeyes coach made a call to ESPN 150 linebacker and former Ohio State commit Alex Anzalone.
Anzalone, now committed to Notre Dame, said Meyer did not pressure him in any way, though.
“Coach Meyer called me I think once since they were able to call on Sept. 1,” Anzalone said Tuesday, “and he just said he understands everything and if any anything ever happens (with Notre Dame) I’d have a home there.”
Anzalone, the No. 5 outside linebacker and No. 63 player overall nationally, committed to the Buckeyes in April only to decommit just a few weeks later. He committed to Notre Dame over Florida and Penn State in July.
There was no animosity or disappointment from Meyer during the call.
“There’s nothing between us,” Anzalone said, referring to any hard feelings.
