Iowa closing in on RB LeShun Daniels

Three-star Warren (Ohio) G. Harding running back LeShun Daniels picked up an offer from Iowa just two weeks ago, so he did not know much about the program when he left for Iowa City for his official visit. Expecting just endless farmland in the state, Daniels was pleasantly surprised at what he saw.

“The area really impressed because I didn’t know what to expect. I never went to Iowa,” Daniels said. “My picture of Iowa was cornfields everywhere, but Iowa City ain’t too bad. There are things to do. It’s nice and peaceful. I thought it was really good.”

A Boston College commitment, Daniels began exploring his options when the Eagles fired coach Frank Spaziani. Last week, Boston College named Steve Addazio as its new coach.

Daniels has not met with the new staff, but that will happen very soon. Addazio is coming for an in-home visit Monday, and Daniels has a few questions he wants to ask.

“What he’s going to bring to the football team, different philosophies and where does he see us in the future,” Daniels said.

The official visit to Iowa has given Daniels a lot more to think about regarding his BC verbal.

“The visit helped Iowa a lot. I’m still committed to BC but it helped my view of Iowa positively,” he said.

Daniels went on a tour of the football offices and campus and went to the Iowa basketball game. He met with some of the offensive coaches and had breakfast with Kirk Ferentz on Sunday morning.

The coaches told Daniels he is exactly what they look for in a running back at Iowa.

“They like how I run downhill and how physical I am through contact,” Daniels said. “They feel that fits well in the offense and what they’re trying to do.”
