Bigelow causes stir with tweet

SAN ANTONIO -- USC defensive tackle commitment Kenny Bigelow (Elkton, Md./Eastern Christian Academy) caused quite a stir with a tweet on Tuesday about him hanging out with a few Alabama commitments during down time for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

“Been hanging with @KingHenry_2 and Tenpenny they really opening my eyes to the Tide” he said from his @4_fighton_0 Twitter handle on Tuesday.

But Bigelow said the tweet didn’t hint at any interest in the Crimson Tide.

Bigelow (6-foot-3, 297 pounds), the No. 2 DT and No. 11 player overall, assured USC fans they have nothing to worry about.

“It wasn’t really like I was saying Alabama is such a great school and I want to go there,” Bigelow said. “I was just acknowledging the fact that I was hanging out with these guys and getting a different view of the school.”

Bigelow said he is not interested in Alabama anymore and has not spoken with Nick Saban in a while. But he’s making no qualms about befriending Alabama commitments, especially Derrick Henry and Altee Tenpenny, the two players mentioned in the tweet.

“I’m down with those guys,” he said. “They are real funny, both of them. I’ve been hanging out with Tenpenny the most. He’s a funny guy. He’s real down-to-earth."

Bigelow has been a terror on the field this week, including on Tuesday when he sacked the quarterback three times in a row.

“I feel like I’ve been doing great,” he said. “I was a little out of shape when we first started but I think I am getting back to where I am want to be.”

Bigelow said the best offensive linemen he has faced are fellow USC commit and high school teammate Khaliel Rodgers, Florida State commitment Austin Golson and Georgia commitment Brandon Kublanow.
