BC decommit Monteroso finds new school

It was a tough decision for receiver Dan Monteroso (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) to make, but he knew he needed to find a new school following the coaching change at Boston College.

And he found it Friday.

Monteroso committed to Purdue over Maryland.

“The relationship I had with [receivers] Coach [Kevin] Sherman and Coach [Darrell] Hazell made it easy,” Monteroso said. “Coach Hazell recruited me at Kent [State] and Coach Sherman recruited me at Virginia Tech so it was nice.”

Purdue hosted Monteroso for a visit the weekend of Jan. 18.

“The campus was wonderful, the facilities were beautiful and the people around there I got to know,” he said. “It seemed like the place I belong.”

Monteroso visited Maryland officially two days ago, but he said the fact Purdue was on him longer made it feel like the right place.

“Purdue is where I should be.”
