Three-star defensive lineman Niko Padilla (Dallas, Texas/Parish Episcopal) on Tuesday said he has verbally committed to Central Arkansas, but he is planning one more visit before signing day approaches.
A 6-foot-1, 275-pound defensive tackle, Padilla said he will take an official visit to Columbia this weekend. Columbia has expressed major interest in Padilla, who has a 4.0 grade-point average, and Padilla said the program will offer if he is accepted into the school. Padilla said he will find out his acceptance status on Thursday.
Padilla currently has offers from Central Arkansas and Yale. He visited Central Arkansas this past weekend. Padilla also has received interest from Baylor, New Mexico, Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin.
Padilla is ranked No. 81 among defensive tackles nationally, but he played both the tackle and end spots for Parish Episcopal. He also played all positions on the offensive line and also was a reliable long snapper on special teams.
