Three-star athlete John Gibson (Missouri City, Texas/Marshall) decommitted from Arkansas early last week. He has found a new home in the SEC.
Per his mother, Nichole, Gibson has verbally committed to play for Missouri. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior chose the Tigers over offers from Wyoming, Indiana, San Diego State and Minnesota. Gibson decided to explore options from Arkansas after Razorbacks representatives were concerned with a low SAT score.
Gibson has retaken the SAT and, in the process, landed an opportunity to stay in the SEC next season. Gibson, who became Missouri's 18th commitment, caught 23 passes for 422 yards and six touchdowns for Marshall in 2011.
Gibson was a first-team, all-district selection as a receiver. As a cornerback, he used his 4.42 speed to show that he also can be considered a solid defender.
