TE Morgan offered by longtime favorite

ESPNU 150 Watch List tight end Christian Morgan (Plano, Texas/Prestonwood Christian) picked up his eighth offer Tuesday night from a program he’s rooted for and respected since he was playing Pop Warner ball.

Morgan got an offer from Miami, a team that gave him multiple football memories growing up. One of his all-time favorite teams is the 2002 team that featured quarterback Ken Dorsey, running back Willis McGahee, receiver Andre Johnson and tight end Kellen Winslow II.

“I grew up a fan of them,” Morgan said of the Hurricanes. “My favorite team was the team that lost to Ohio State [in the national championship game].”

That 2002 team fell in double overtime to Ohio State in what many call one of the best national title games in history. Morgan now has a chance to put on a Hurricanes uniform -- if he chooses to accept the offer. Recruited by Miami tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator Brennan Carroll, Morgan also has offers from Baylor, Arkansas and California, among others.

Morgan, 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, is fresh off a junior day appearance at Texas Tech. He picked up his seventh offer in Lubbock, Texas. Morgan said he will make a trip to Waco, Texas, this weekend for an unofficial visit to Baylor. He said he will take in the Baylor-Oklahoma basketball game, in addition to hanging with some of the players on the football team.
