At 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, Jackson Gilley (Liberty, Mo./Liberty) is a prospect not only on the football field, but also in the wrestling circle. The spring and summer will be huge for a player still looking for his first offer – and one who definitely is on the verge of obtaining it.
Gilley, a heavyweight as a wrestler, plays defensive end for Liberty’s football but also has lined up as an inside linebacker. He has been a defensive starter since his sophomore season.
Gilley is garnering attention as a defensive end from Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa State. Gilley has visited Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska and Hawaii, and next Saturday, he will visit Iowa State.
Gilley’s objective is to see as many schools as possible before putting together a list of his top schools. He said the Nebraska and Kansas trips have been the most memorable so far.
“Nebraska was a great experience. All you could see is red everywhere,” Gilley said. “KU’s been my school since I was a little kid. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience going there.
“I want to go to a place where I feel I’m at home. I want to be able to enjoy the coaches and my teammates. If they have a hard work ethic, I can see myself playing for that team.”
