2013 OL prospect enjoys Nebraska trip

Junior offensive lineman Jake Bennett (Lakewood, Colo./Bear Creek) said he has received early interest from a couple of schools, but Nebraska has been the most consistent in his young recruiting process.

A versatile lineman, Bennett (6-foot-3, 270 pounds) decided to take in the Lincoln, Neb., campus for an unofficial visit this past weekend. He left Nebraska feeling pretty good about the athletic program and the city.

“This was my first trip to Nebraska. I wanted to see what the atmosphere was like,” Bennett said. “I had heard a lot of good things about the school, and that it is a town that focuses on football.”

Bennett said that his expectations were met. He enjoyed the game-time environment Saturday, as Nebraska defeated Michigan State 24-3. He also had a chance to walk the campus and enjoy the college atmosphere.

“It was great there,” he said. “The facilities are unreal.”

Bennett plays right tackle for Bear Creek – a team that averages 39.2 points per game – but has played all positions on the line. He feels he will be recruited more as a center or guard. He also has received correspondence from Colorado State and Wyoming.
