The last seven days for Zachary Crabtree (Mansfield, Texas/Mansfield) have been memorable. At the start of last Thursday, the 6-foot-7, 275-pound offensive tackle had offers from Tulsa and Utah State.
Crabtree now has eight offers and is enjoying being one of the hottest recruits in Texas. Baylor and Texas Tech offered him last Friday. Oklahoma State followed with a Sunday offer, and Illinois and San Diego State offered on Monday. Washington State was the latest school to extend a scholarship on Tuesday.
“It feels good, very exciting,” Crabtree said. “I’m just trying to take it all in. It’s a great time.”
Last month, Mansfield head coach Jeff Hulme said Crabtree’s the type of player who could see a major spike in recruiting before the start of the summer. Along with the schools that have offered, Crabtree also has received looks from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Ole Miss.
Crabtree, a first-team, all-district selection as a junior, said he will participate in a couple of upcoming summer camps. He said Oklahoma State and Baylor are two he’s planning on attending.
