Baylen Brown commits to Texas Tech

Offensive lineman Baylen Brown (Helotes, Texas/O’Connor) announced via Twitter that he has verbally committed to Texas Tech.

“Verbally Committed to Texas Tech!!! GUNS UP!! #redraiders,” the tweet from @baylenbrown75 read.

Brown, a 6-foot-4, 280-pound guard, chose the Red Raiders over offers from Oklahoma State and Houston. Recruited by offensive line coach Chris Thomsen, Brown became the eighth member of Texas Tech’s 2013 recruiting class.

Texas Tech’s class was loaded with defensive backs and receivers. Brown is the first offensive lineman to commit to the Red Raiders. He attended a junior day in Lubbock, Texas, in February.

Brown also had offers from Baylor, Mississippi State, Tulsa and Purdue.
