The month is coming to an end, and 2014 athlete Nick Harvey (Lancaster, Texas/Lancaster) is comfortable with having five high-profile FBS offers.
What he isn’t comfortable with, however, is being content with having those five. Harvey said his main summer objective is to show that he is the best player in his class – whether as a cornerback or as a receiver.
“It feels good, but at the same time, I have to stay humble and hungry,” Harvey said of the offers. “I have to keep working as hard as I can in the weight room and on the field. I am striving to be the No. 1 recruit.”
Harvey has offers from Baylor, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Virginia and Texas Tech. He also has interest from Alabama, LSU, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and a host of other standout programs.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound sophomore has been impressive on both sides of the ball since his freshman year, lining up as a cornerback, receiver and running back and also serving as a return specialist for Lancaster. Offensively, Harvey scored four touchdowns during the 2011 season – two rushing, one receiving and one on an 81-yard punt return.
“I want to improve on every part of my game, offensively and defensively,” Harvey said. “My main focus right now is coming out of my break a little faster at [defensive back].”
Harvey said he will hone his skills at a few camps this summer. He hasn’t determined which camps he will attend, but he plans on registering for two or three.
