Two Texas OLs pick Colorado

Colorado has scored a pair of offensive lineman, as teammates Sam Kronshage and Jonathan Huckins (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) verbally committed to the Buffaloes on Monday.

Kronshage, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive tackle, became Colorado’s sixth commit of the 2013 recruiting class. Shortly after, Huckins, a 6-foot-4, 310-pound interior lineman, gave the Buffaloes his verbal pledge and became commitment No. 7.

Kronshage had offers from Louisiana Tech, Duke, Texas State and SMU. Huckins had an offer from Iowa State and interest from Baylor, Houston, Kansas State and several other schools.

“We talked about it; we didn’t really want to do it same time, so I let [Kronshage] go first, and then I called after,” Huckins said. “It’s going to be great. I know how he plays and how he works. We know how each other goes about things. It’s going to be really good having him up there, knowing that we work together so well.”

Huckins said defensive end/outside linebackers coach Kanavis McGhee was the primary recruiting contact for both him and Kronshage. Huckins is expected to play guard but could see time at center. Kronshage is expected to line up at tackle.

Huckins visited the Colorado campus June 4-5, while Kronshage visited June 6-7. Both linemen were all-district selections for a team that finished 12-2 and advanced four rounds deep in the Texas Class 5A Division I playoffs.
