Arkansas scores two junior college OLs

Arkansas scored two of the top linemen at Navarro College (Corsicana, Texas) on Thursday in offensive tackle Zach Fondal and offensive guard Mitchell Bell.

Fondal, 6-foot-5 and 290 pounds, and Bell, 6-4 and 320, are sophomore catalysts on a Navarro team ranked No. 7 in the latest NJCAA poll. Navarro coach Brian Mayper said both are players with tremendous upside and can excel in SEC play.

“They are going to get two guys with a lot of potential,” Mayper said. “Zach’s been injured, so he’s just now getting back into playing this week. He has tremendous feet and a big, tall body. He’s definitely an SEC-type tackle, someone who can run and block. He’s hungry.

“Mitchell’s more of a utility guy. He can play every position. He played mainly tackle for us with Zach’s injury, but he’ll probably play guard there. He’s really aggressive on his blocking and has got super feet. He pulls well on counter plays.”

Fondal, who played high school ball at Pasadena (Texas) Dobie, had offers from South Florida, East Carolina and New Mexico. Bell played his high school ball at Worthing High School in Houston.
