Juco DE Kewan Alfred adds two offers

If it were up to defensive end Kewan Alfred (Athens, Texas/Trinity Valley Community College), recruiting still would be taking a back seat to the 2012 season.

Unfortunately, Trinity Valley’s season came to a conclusion on Saturday, as the Cardinals lost to Tyler (Texas) Junior College. Trinity Valley was not one of the top four teams to qualify for the Southwestern Junior College Football Conference (SWJCFC) playoffs.

What this means, however, is that Alfred, a 6-foot-3, 245-pound end, is now shifting his attention to where he will continue his college football career. Alfred is now at seven offers and looking to grow his list even more.

“Recruiting is basically the same,” Alfred said. “I got two more offers from North Texas and Old Dominion, and I’m still in contact with most of the schools that have been recruiting me since the beginning.”

Ole Miss, Louisiana Tech, Utah State, UNLV and Lamar have offered Alfred, in addition to the two recent offers. Alfred said his two newest offers came somewhat as a surprise, and he is doing his research on both programs.

“They’re good schools and two good football teams,” he said. “I never really looked into them before then, but I’ll make sure I take a look now to see if I’ll have interest, because they are good teams.”

Originally from Beaumont, Texas, Alfred was a returning starter on the defensive line for Trinity Valley. In addition to his offers, he also has received interest from Texas. Alfred said he now is looking to set up official visits.
