Sam Wren decommits from Texas State

Sam Wren (Yuma, Ariz./Arizona Western College) is back on the market.

Wren, a 6-foot-3, 255-pound defensive end, confirmed Monday morning that he has decommitted from Texas State. He originally committed to the Bobcats last month.

“I’ve decided to open my recruiting back up to explore other options,” Wren said. “I just want to say thank you to all the [Texas State] coaches for looking at me. I respect all of them. I’m just going to take things from here and go.”

Wren, originally from Palestine, Texas, has offers from Oregon State, Houston, Nevada, Utah State, Toledo, Memphis and several other schools. He has four official visits remaining, but he said he’s uncertain as to which schools he will visit.

“All my options are open,” he said. “There’s no specific school I’m looking at. I still have offers, so I’m going to explore my options and make a decision on Dec. 19.”

Wren has recorded 41 tackles and 10.5 sacks on the season.
