What better way for a player to celebrate a birthday than with a performance that helps open doors not only for himself but for his entire team?
On his 18th birthday Thursday night, running back Jorrion Wilson (Odessa, Texas/Permian) rushed for 208 yards and 4 touchdowns in a 49-24 win against Lubbock (Texas) Coronado. Wilson not only put himself past the 1,200-yard rushing mark with his performance, he also helped Permian clinch a playoff spot in its final regular-season game.
“It was amazing," he said. "God blessed us to come out with a win, even though we started out slow. I can honestly say it’s been the best birthday.”
Wilson, a 6-foot-0, 180-pound running back, now must prepare for Permian’s first-round playoff game against El Paso (Texas) El Dorado this weekend. After the postseason, though, he will focus on his recruiting process. He is still looking for his first offer, and Oklahoma State, Louisiana Tech, Texas Tech, Colorado State, Texas State and Air Force are among the multiple schools showing interest.
