Three-star wide receiver Dylan Cantrell (Whitehouse, Texas/Whitehouse) wasn’t a big fan of Saturday’s news, as Tommy Tuberville decided to leave Texas Tech for Cincinnati.
That news, however, wasn’t enough to make the 6-foot-2, 202-pound receiver decommit -- at least for now. Cantrell said he will monitor what happens to the rest of the Red Raiders’ coaching staff before he makes a final decision.
“I’m not sure what to think,” Cantrell said of Tuberville’s departure. “The offense and coaching staff were big reasons why I committed there. I was looking forward to being coached by [offensive coordinator] Coach [Neal] Brown and [receivers] Coach [Sonny] Cumbie, and if they leave, I might have to re-evaluate my options.
“But now, I am still committed to Tech.”
Cumbie has been Cantrell’s main recruiting contact. Cantrell had other offers from West Virginia, Arkansas, Washington State and Louisiana Tech, among other programs. Cantrell committed to Texas Tech on March 24. He finished his senior year with 67 catches for 1,421 yards and 15 touchdowns.
