Junior college defensive tackle Chris Brown (Scottsdale, Ariz./Scottsdale Community College) is days away from making a decision of where he wants to play college football. Over the weekend, he took in what might be his final official visit of the recruiting period.
Brown, a 6-foot-4, 330-pound lineman, visited Kansas State and gave the visit “a 10” overall. He was hosted by sophomore defensive end Ryan Mueller, Brown said he enjoyed his first trip to Manhattan, Kan.
“It was my first trip to Kansas, period,” Brown said. “I honestly didn’t know what to expect, but when I got there, it was a great atmosphere. It seems like a really nice place with warm people.”
Originally from Mesa, Ariz., Brown said he is looking at Kansas State, Arizona State and Iowa as his three finalists, and he plans on making an announcement on Friday. He’s already visited Arizona State, and he said it’s unlikely that he will take any more visits between now and the end of the week.
Kansas State will be the freshest of the three schools on his mind, particularly because of the athletic facilities. Recruited by defensive line coach Mo Latimore, Brown was a big fan of both the athletic training room and the weight room.
“It was definitely a beautiful place,” he said. “It’s a good place to put in some hard work.”
