ESPN Watch List offensive tackle Josh Pelzel (Rockdale, Texas/Rockdale) currently has five offers. His upcoming weekend trip could put one school high on his board -- or put one school ultimately near the bottom.
Pelzel, a 6-foot-6, 330-pound lineman, will be one of several athletes in attendance for Texas Tech's spring game on Saturday. Texas Tech has offered, along with Baylor, Washington State, Rice and Houston.
Pelzel said he has a lot of interest in Texas Tech, particularly with a new coaching staff that many recruits seem high on. New head coach Kliff Kingsbury has made a vow to bring a spark to Lubbock, Texas, and he's hoping targets will buy into it even further after Saturday.
"I just want to get a better feel for the school and meet the coaches in person and get a better understanding of how they operate," said Pelzel, who doesn't have a current favorite in his recruiting process. "After this trip, I’ll be able to get an actual order though."
Recruited by Texas Tech co-offensive coordinator Eric Morris, Pelzel doesn't have a timetable set on a final decision. In addition to his offers, Pelzel has received interest from Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU and other programs.
