Before Gary Moore (Clarksville, Texas) wants to be remembered as a top-notch football standout, he wants to win a 2012 state basketball championship.
Moore, a 6-foot-5, 215-pound receiver/outside linebacker during the fall season, is Clarksville’s go-to player for a basketball team that will play for the UIL Texas Class A Division I title on Saturday. Moore led Clarksville to a semifinal victory over Olton, Texas, on Thursday.
Moore said he has received correspondence from Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Kansas, SMU and Florida State, among others. As a receiver, Moore caught 27 passes for 581 yards and 11 touchdowns. As a linebacker, he had 76 tackles and three interceptions.
“I don’t have any offers,” Moore said, “but right now, all I can do is keep playing. I can’t worry about that.”
Moore said that he has a definitely interest in one school in particular.
“I’ve been a Texas fan for a long time,” Moore said. “I really want to go to Texas, but if not, I just want to go to a school that’s good for me.”
Moore said his mind currently is on winning a basketball title for his team, but after the season, he will make plans to visit Baylor and SMU.
