Vandy latest to offer Chevoski Collins

Four-star athlete Chevoski Collins (Livingston, Texas) currently is balancing six offers, the latest coming from the SEC.

Collins picked up an offer from Vanderbilt on Saturday, and the Commodores officially joined Baylor, Texas Tech, TCU, Utah and New Mexico State in the race for the 6-foot, 190-pound, two-way standout. Collins said receivers coach/offensive recruiting coordinator Josh Gattis extended the offer.

“I really don’t know too much about them yet,” Collins admitted, “but I know they’re in the SEC. It’s a good feeling knowing I can go into the best conference and compete against some of the best athletes.”

Collins said Vandy is interested in him playing receiver. In addition to his offers, Collins has interest from Texas and Texas A&M, and both schools are more interested in him playing cornerback.

“I want to play wide receiver, but I wouldn’t mind playing corner,” Collins said, “I just want to play.”

Collins, who has visited Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas and TCU for junior days, said he is looking for a school with a stable coaching staff and a comfortable campus atmosphere. He is considered the 25th-best athlete in the nation and is ranked No. 29 among recruits in Texas.
