Players to watch: Killeen (Texas) Ellison

KILLEEN, Texas – To say Killeen Ellison High School didn’t have the greatest of seasons in 2011 is an understatement as it finished winless for only the second time in school history.

Fortunately, the team returns multiple players who are expected to turn the program around just in time for the 2012 season. Ellison coach Buddy McBryde is high on his skill-position players, as well as his offensive line. The line will have a rare feature about it, as all five starters – tackles Hunter Teegardin and Kenneth Pitts, guards Marin Bilitec and Aaron Oldham and center Tyler Bark – will enter their third year of varsity play.

Here are a few players to watch, as Ellison looks to bounce back from a sub-par 2011 campaign:

  • RB Isiah Cowan: At 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, Cowan brings good size to the Ellison backfield. He also has 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash, as well as excellent vision, which makes him even more dangerous. Cowan has received interest from San Diego State, SMU and Houston.
