DALLAS, Texas -- ESPN Watch List athlete Nick Harvey (Lancaster, Texas/Lancaster) blended in with the crowd at the Cotton Bowl on Saturday, but he could stand out in the Red River Rivalry in two years.
Harvey (5-foot-11, 180 pounds) has been offered by both the Longhorns and Sooners, and will be a top priority for each team. Even tough the atmosphere was watered down a bit by Oklahoma’s blowout victory, he said he still had a great time.
“The atmosphere was crazy. I loved it,” Harvey said. “Both sides were going wild. I would love to play in front of a crowd like that.”
The Sooners’ dominance made an impression on Harvey, who is being recruited more as a defensive back than slot receiver.
“I knew OU’s offense was pretty explosive, but what really impressed me was their defense,” Harvey said. “They made plays.”
The Longhorns didn’t do much of anything right, but their downfalls on Saturday won’t linger on Harvey’s mind.
“No way,” he said. “They are still Texas. I believe they can bounce back from that one.”
In addition to the Red River rivals, Harvey also holds offers from Arkansas, Baylor, LSU, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Virginia.
“I’m just keeping my options open,” he said. “Right now everyone has a chance.”
